Najdłuższy czas do rozpoznania SM upłynął u dziecka z padaczką, a najkrótszy w zapaleniu nerwów wzrokowych z zajęciem rdzenia. U 5 dzieci obserwowano I rzut choroby, u 3 przebieg z rzutami i remisjami, a u 2 postać pierwotnie postępującą. Troje dzieci w badaniu MRI spełniało 4 kryteria rozpoznania SM, dwoje 3 kryteria, a u pozostałych o rozpoznaniu decydowały łącznie kryteria kliniczne oraz neuroobrazowe, immunologiczne i elektroneuro. zjologiczne.

ABSTRACT
Background: Child's type of multiple sclerosis (MS is still not suf. ciently recognized. Material and methods: The study was performed in 1996-2003 on 10 children (8 girls and 2 boys) with MS, aged 5-16 years. Neuroimaging, electrophysiological, immunological, ophthalmological and different therapeutic methods were used. Results: The most frequent symptoms of the disease were retrobulbar neuritis, epileptic seizures, dysesthesia and vertigo. The longest period of time to rule out the disease was in the case of a child with epilepsy, the shortest in the case of retrobulbar neuritis and with the changes localized in the medulla. In 5 children we observed the . rst bout of the disease, in 3 cases there were bouts and remission and in 2 patients we diagnosed the primary progressive type. In MR imaging 3 children had 4 diagnostic criteria of SM, 2 patient had 3 criteria, in the rest of the group in the diagnosis took part all together clinical criteria neuroimaging, immunological and electroneurophysiological tests. The most typical applied treatment were steroids, immunosuppressants and in 2 cases plasmapheresis. In 5 children with the 4 years' average time of observation, clinical course of the disease was good, in one case with late diagnosis was bad and in 2 children slowly progressive. Conclusions: The most frequent form of MS in children was bouts and remission and primary progressive form was connected with retardation of physical development.
