STRESZCZENIE
Do jednych z najczęstszych bólów głowy u dzieci, poza bólami głowy typu napięciowego, należą migrenowe bóle głowy.

ABSTRACT
One of the most frequent headache in children, except for tension type, is a migraine headache. In the literature, in addition to conventional medical treatment, are reports of the use in the treatment of migraine such supplements as: coenzyme Q, vitamins B2 and B12 and magnesium preparations. Authors discuss the theoretical conditions for the application of magnesium in the prevention of migraine and analyzed the available literature evaluating the efficacy of magnesium in migraine. Most of the work evaluating the effectiveness of the prophylaxis of migraine headaches has been carried out on the adult population, there are not enough studies in children on this issue. Preparation of magnesium, due to the favorable pharmacological profile and mechanism of action, may be taken into account in the prophylaxis of migraine headaches in children. But it is necessary to conduct further studies to evaluate the effectiveness of such treatment because none of the presented results provide sufficiently strong evidence based on the criteria of EBM.

Key words: migraine, pathogenesis, magnesium, children
